There is\nno gene or cluster of genes common to all white people or to all black people or to all\nAsian people. Biological races do not exist\, except in myth.

SUMMARY:TED Talk: The Happy Planet Index (Will Daniels)
DESCRIPTION:Since the turn of the century\, books on happiness and well-being have been a publishing phenomenon; organizations promoting happiness have appeared; a school of psychology devoted to human flourishing was founded; Bhutan pioneered the concept of “gross national happiness.” Happiness is essential\, it’s true. But can humans pursue happiness in consonance with caring for the planet? The Happy Planet Index is a tool for measuring and focusing efforts to align happiness with what our Seventh Principle states: Respect for the Interdependent Web of Existence. \nStatistician Nic Marks asks why we measure a nation’s success by its productivity — instead of by the happiness and well-being of its people. He introduces the Happy Planet Index\, which tracks national well-being against resource use (because a happy life doesn’t have to cost the earth). Which countries rank highest in the HPI? You might be surprised.

SUMMARY:The New Us (M. Bynum\, K. Treanor\, W. Daniels\, and J. Hanover)
DESCRIPTION:We at UUBRidge are becoming a “new thing” together—a UU congregation without a minister (and there are many similar UU congregations that thrive). We are moving toward becoming a self-sustaining\, do-it-yourself operation. New possibilities for engagement and thinking outside our old box await us all—opportunities for any of us to try new things within the safe embrace of our dear “old” community. \nIn this service\, we will talk about five possibilities that promote the kind of engagement that can keep us going strong\, and we will invite additional ideas and proposals from the congregation.

SUMMARY:Letting Go (Rev. Russ Savage)
DESCRIPTION:This will be our last Sunday together\, a momentous occasion for all of us. Since its founding\, UUBRidge has had only one other minister for one year. Finding and adjusting to new ministries is a common experience for older churches\, and as the years pass UUBRidge will learn this skill as well. Unlike times when Russ has left other churches\, he will not be going to another church this time but will be retiring from ministry. This is our chance to say farewell to each other. Members of the congregation will have the opportunity to share memories of Russ’ time with us. A luncheon will follow the service.

SUMMARY:Meditation: How Hard Could It Be? (Gary Grossman)
