UUBRidge Pledge Drive
2025-2026
[Ready to pledge already? Go here.]
From our minister, Rev. Lauren Spivey Levwood:
Spiritual communities like UUBRidge are places of refuge, vision, and courage. We are the lucky inheritors of this incredible community, and indebted to the visionaries who first tilled its rich soil, some of whom still call UUBRidge their spiritual home today.
In this spirit, the community of today is planting seeds that will one day be harvested by the people of tomorrow. Take a moment to imagine the congregants of the future who we have yet to meet, but who most certainly need our collective commitment, compassion, and care. We who tend the soil of today keep UUBRidge healthy and vital for generations to come.
This year’s pledge theme states: “We Live in Challenging Times. Where is Hope? What Can We Do? Sustainable Resilience!” As your minister, I wholeheartedly commit myself to meeting the challenges of this moment, to inspiring hope and action, and to journeying alongside you as we aspire for sustainable resilience for our congregation and our world. With concerted effort, a sustainable future for UUBRidge is within our reach. It’s true, we live in challenging times. And, any challenge deserves to be met fiercely and fully.
I ask you: Please give as generously as possible to this year’s UUBRidge pledge campaign. The congregation of the future thanks you, and so do I.
Yours in CommUUnity,
Rev. Lauren
From our President, Jon Larsen:
It has been almost a year since we welcomed our new minister, Rev. Lauren, on a half-time basis. We have been able to pay for our new minister’s compensation but cannot continue to do so without fulfilling our pledges. Our weekly services help to sustain ourselves while recent events in our country and globally have not been conducive to civil discourse, and forces of intolerance are rising all around us.
As we are plan our finances for the Fiscal Year 2025-26, our annual Pledge Drive is the major sustaining source for our congregation. For this Pledge Drive, we have established the theme of “Sustainable Resilience.” What does that mean?
In the face of unprecedent challenges to individual rights and collective peace, we resolve to:
- Love ourselves
- Practice love in our community at large
- Be kind and charitable to all
- Be open to all discourse within our community and in public
- Speak out about justice in our society
- Listen to and deeply regard one another
- Respect and cherish all life
- Stand up for our values
To sustain our beloved spiritual community, we take responsibility to:
- Nominate and elect our directors
- Serve on committees that positively impact or congregation and community
- Financially support our congregation
- Pledge our financial support
As you contemplate filling out your Pledge Form, please think about what this community means to you. Remember we are a progressive voice in a largely conservative area; we provide stimulating and spiritually nourishing services each Sunday; we work in the community for the greater good. Your generous financial support can keep these things happening in the coming year. Please pledge to give generously. Please fulfill your pledge, both this year and in future years. Thank you for all you do for UUBRidge.
Jon Larsen
President, UUBRidge
