This is the third in a series of services on meditation. Gary will briefly review the meditation techniques that he previously shared. He will then discuss some long-term effects of regular meditation practice and identify a few problems that may arise and how to deal with them.

Todayโ€™s world, with its daily examples of greed, self-interest, and cruelty, can be frightening. Some of this fear, which can veer toward despair, arises from our perception that there is nothing individuals can do to push back on behalf of a kinder world. This video, by the head of TED, Chris Anderson, points to a […]

Spring Equinox is a time to reconnect to Earth, in all her budding glory. One way of doing this is through the growing of green things and reconnecting to the food we eat. Instead of centering our worship around a sermon, we will be performing a seed planting ceremony to honor our connections with Earth […]

Lee will make theย case that vegetarianism is now a human necessity. In the past it has been a free choice in most cultures. Today, the global consequences of not being a vegetarian culture are much too dire to ignore. By the year 2025, two years from now, 2 of every 3 humans on earth will […]

This little talk translates Platoโ€™s cave scene into a more up to date view of the difficulties we encounter in attempting to โ€œgo beyondโ€ or to transcend the knowledge provided more directly by the senses. By more graphically picturing the human mindโ€™s freedom, we may come to understand more easily why some people donโ€™t agree […]

Karen Allen will present this sermon, which was given by Rev. Erica Baron of the UUA Congregational Life Staff in the New England Region. Reverend Baron asks us to consider: How can the practice of covenant help us to navigate relationships in our lives and in our congregations? And, how do we practice covenant when […]

Memory is at once our most essential mental tool for daily living and the wellspring of our identity. The talk will explore the practical and deeply personal aspects of our memory and will also discuss the memories we share as groups, the public side of memory.

Random chaos touches all of us directly; some more, some less.ย  This talk is about how we need to deal with it. It is here to stay. Lee always picks topics that are either controversial or of universal interest. It is his view that all of us have experience with this topic and will bring […]
